Serena Williams, rota de dolor por la pérdida de su mascota

Today really is hard for me. My special friend in which I got at 17 (2 weeks before I won my very first Grand Slam) left me today. She was 16 years young and up until a few days ago was still sprinting. Her poor body gave out this morning and she had a way of telling me it was time for me to be brave and let her go. With my dad by my side we were able to say a loving goodbye. She was with me from 1999 until today and I miss her so much. I got out of the shower this afternoon and she was not there to lick my leg as she always did everyday to remind me how much she loved me. I feel so lucky to have such a special friend. Serena Williams está abatida tras la muerte de su mascota, Jackie, una perrita que desembarcó en la vida de la deportista hace 17 años. Quince días después de la llegada de Jackie, la pequeña de los Williams se alzaba con su primer Grand Slam.

La estadonidense ha querido rendir tributo al animal a través de Twitter, Instagram y Snapchat con mensajes en los que recuerda a su mascota y le promete no olvidarla. 

La tenista relata que "Jackie estaba bien hasta hace unos días, cuando ha empeorado". "Esta mañana me ha hecho entender que debía ser valiente y dejarla ir", explica, llorando en un vídeo. "La echo tanto de menos. Salí de la ducha esta tarde y no estaba para lamerme las piernas, como siempre, para recordarme cuánto me amaba", termina.
